Questions people ask before they get TrapTrack.
We are located in Coleman, Prince Edward Island, Canada.
When you first get the tablet or install the app, it starts in a demo profile and a demo season.
Play with the tablet in this profile! Create a new season and experience the workflow.
We will use this during the call to demo every feature you would like.
No, the tablet and case are not waterproof.
For most applications a fully waterproof tablet is not needed. The tablet can handle wet gloves and a dirty screen!
If you think you need a waterproof setup, buy a waterproof case for the tablet or ask us about it.
Even better! You can use your own tablet.
We recommend people get their own tablet. We sell them to make it easy!
The tablet comes with a case and the app pre-installed.
A charger is not included. We recommend at least a 2A charger, 12V to USB-C.
A subscription is not included. You can start on the Free plan and pick a paid plan when you want more. See the price list.
No. We are hoping to offer it at some point.
As of right now, we cannot keep your data offline and still accessible on an Apple product.
No, not with TrapTrack. TrapTrack keeps records for you only, and not for anyone else.
You are allowed to share them with anyone, and use them to help fill out the E-log. We will not offer this within the app.
You can install the E-log app on the tablet, but it still requires an internet connection! Most tablets will not have this.
We don't know!
We are almost 1 year in (October 2026) and battery levels are still showing high.
We hope to offer at least 5 years, maybe 10. Our users will be the first to know!
Yes, of course! (is what a salesman will tell you)
Learning it at the start of the season could be tricky. There is already so much going on!
Our app has the demo / game controls in it. You can play with TrapTrack like it's a game from the couch, and be ready anytime.
Most users who bought it early had plans to play with it, but you know how that works...
Questions from people who are fishing with TrapTrack.
90% of the time it needs a good charge. The battery went too low.
Start by inspecting the charging port for any dirt or damage.
Then charge it for 30 minutes on a good charger (2A or more).
At home: inside a house it can be harder to get a good GPS signal.
In the boat: try moving the tablet. There are some places in the boat with a stronger magnetic field that will disrupt the signal.
Sometimes rotating the tablet 180° (GPS antenna on the other side) is enough to fix the issue.
We recommend two things:
Most likely it is an older charger rated at 1A.
That could survive fine on a cloudy day. On a day with full sun, with the screen trying to match, the tablet will draw more.
We recommend at least a 2A charger, 12V to USB-C.
